This photograph was taken in March of 1999. It depicts the beginning of the grass turning green and the oak trees budding out in spring in California. It was taken in Amador County on a working cattle ranch. Shortly after this picture was taken the old board fence was replaced with a modern pipe fence. The photographer was happy to have been able to capture the look of the old fence, before modern techniques changed the look.
